TEACHING
(Creative Movement, Contemporary/Modern Technique, Improvisation, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, all interspersed with dabs of dance history and theory, for any person of any age interested in moving)

In my class, the “we” is emphasized. Our combined bodies create a combined body of knowledge, infusing the space with individuality and acceptance. We will move through this space quickly with fluidity and with dynamics. The movements will be sweeping and grandiose then all at once will become self-directed and internal. We will improvise, make mistakes, laugh with each other and move forward. Then, we will make more mistakes.
I aim to be rigorous and random, nurturing and nuanced in my approach both internally and externally. I want to support each student individually while embedding the space with a deep sense of community. There is no hierarchy; there is an expectation of hard work and deep engagement. I want to move richly and collapse in, I want to foster a dynamic energy. There will be room for verbal questions but there will be an expectation that questions can be solved physically as well. I want to impart knowledge and I want to gain knowledge from the space we create together.
Class is about “we,” facilitated by me, for us. The space shifts with every class; presence is important, individuality is important, hard work is important, but humor, fun and ridiculousness are priorities of no less importance.
